naugehyde material

Tools Needed

staple gun, utility blade, scissors, sharpee marker, ruler, screwdriver, drill & 1/8. bit, jig saw, small piece of medium grit sandpaper

1) Determine The Amount Of Material Needed For The Bucket In Your Ice Fishing Shanty.

A> To determine the amount of plywood and foam you will need, measure the diameter of the 5 gallon bucket you have.

If it is example: If it is 14" inches from one side to the other, you will need a 14"x14" piece of plywood and foam.

B> typically most stores sell material by the yard.

I suggest you make a few phone calls to upholstery, hardware and fabric shops to see if they have scrap naugehyde material.

The size you need will be the size of your plywood piece needed plus 4 inches.

From the example above you would need a 18"x18" piece of naugehyde.

2) Measure And Cut Your Plywood

A> Take your 5 gallon bucket and flip it over on top of your piece of plywood take your sharpee pen and make a mark all the way around the bucket on the plywood.

B> before cutting you will want to cut the 1/4 of the circle off to make it fit in the bucket.

Take a straightedge or ruler and draw a straight line across the last 1/4 of the circle.

C> Cut the plywood with your jig saw, I suggest you round the corners to prevent the material from puncturing with use.

Take a moment to sand the edges of the plywood smooth.

3> Measure And Cut Your Foam

Take the piece of plywood you just cut and place it on top of your piece of foam.

Mark the shape of your plywood on the foam with your sharpee marker.

Use a large, sharp kitchen knife to cut the foam.

4> Mark And Cut Your Material For The Bucket In Your Ice Fishing Shanty

Take the piece of plywood you just cut and place it on the BACK SIDE of your piece of naugehyde material.

Mark the shape of your plywood with your sharpee marker.

DO NUT CUT YET! take your ruler and make marks four inches away from the line you just drew, making a mark every inch or so.

You should now have a larger dashed pattern duplicate to that you traced around the board.

Connect the dashed marks and cut your material for your bucket in your ice fishing shanty.
